Stage #2A: Shedding og capsid

PreviousNext

Shedding of the capsid is necessary for the exposure of viral RNA and enzymes. Inside the capsid is the genetic material of the virus, otherwise known as the viral genome. In HIV, the viral genome is in the form of RNA. There are 2 strands of RNA connected at one end. The capsid also contains important enzymes for the events leading to infection of the host cell.
