Irene Diamond (1910-2003)

With great regret and deep sorrow, we wish to announce that our beloved Irene Diamond passed away on January 21, 2003. She was a truly remarkable woman, who was universally admired and loved. She had been a friend, a colleague, and a mother (or grandmother) figure to all of us at the Aaron Diamond AIDS Research Center. Irene changed our lives forever, and touched many others throughout New York and beyond. Her passing marks the end of an era. We shall miss her, and the world will miss her.

Announcements and an orbituary have appeared in the New York Times (see below), and a memorial service was held at Juilliard Theater on February 24, 2003 at 5 PM.
